In the late 1960's, the Keenan family moved its potato operation to Prince
Edward Island from New Brunswick. In 1982 brothers
Ray and Alvin Keenan acquired the company, consisting of
a growing, packaging and marketing operation.
Presently, the
company farms a significant acreage of land
located in Eastern Prince Edward Island. This land is worked on a three or
four year crop rotation of barley, hay, flax and the
principal crop, potatoes.
In 1993, the facility
commenced operation under the name Rollo Bay Holdings Ltd.
This company is structured with a very clear goal:
to
produce and market a top quality product.
Over the
past few years the company has grown considerably and Rollo
Bay Holdings is one of the largest agricultural entities in
Eastern PEI. This growth resulted in our decision to acquire
the latest technology, equipment and warehousing facilities.
Rollo Bay Holdings has a sound and specific market
perspective. This drives important decisions to acquire
equipment and warehousing facilities that are state of the
art. Rollo Bay Holdings Ltd. is well situated to provide top
quality service that our customers and consumers demand.
Current transportation systems allow us to offer next day
delivery to most areas, which enables us to provide the
freshest possible potatoes.
Our packaging plant, one
of the most modern in North America, contains an automated
processing line for grading, sizing and packaging. This
allows us to achieve pinpoint accuracy in potato grading and
sizing. We have temperature and humidity controlled storage
for up to 400,000 cwt of raw product as well as a 100’ x
50’ refrigerated warehouse for storing packaged product.
The Keenan potato business has been built on a solid
foundation with personal relationship building within the
retail and food service channels. The Keenan name has
industry recognition which has grown over the years and we
are very proud of our reputation.
